ESG Statement

Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Statement

Local Government Property Consultants (LGPC) is committed to supporting councils in delivering sustainable, socially responsible and well-governed outcomes through their property and housing portfolios. Although we are a specialist, lean consultancy, our work sits at the heart of decisions that shape places, communities and long-term public value.

Our ESG commitments reflect both how we operate as a business and how we support our clients as strategic advisers.

Environment

LGPC maintains a low-impact operating model, built around digital-first working, minimal travel, and efficient use of resources. More importantly, our professional work helps councils meet their statutory and strategic environmental goals, including:

  • aligning estate rationalisation and disposals with net zero pathways

  • improving energy performance across ageing public-sector buildings

  • supporting renewable, retrofit and decarbonisation planning

  • encouraging land re-use that reduces environmental footprint and supports sustainable housing

We consistently integrate carbon, energy, lifecycle and compliance considerations into estate strategy, ensuring environmental responsibility is embedded - not added on.

Social

Local government exists to serve communities. LGPC’s advisory work is designed to strengthen that role, by:

  • supporting councils to release land for much-needed affordable and accessible housing

  • identifying opportunities for community facilities, meanwhile uses and social infrastructure

  • helping reduce reliance on costly temporary accommodation by repurposing assets for better outcomes

  • recognising the role of property in health, education, inclusion and place-making

As a consultancy, we operate ethically, respectfully and inclusively. We value fairness, transparency and diversity in all partnerships.

Governance

Strong governance underpins every recommendation we make. LGPC is committed to:

  • full compliance with public-sector procurement obligations

  • transparent, audit-ready documentation

  • strict adherence to UK GDPR and secure information handling

  • alignment with RICS professional and ethical standards

  • conflict-free, independent advice rooted solely in the public interest

Our work often informs Cabinet decisions, long-term financial strategies and statutory duties. We therefore ensure our advice is evidence-based, impartial, and capable of withstanding scrutiny.

Our Purpose

LGPC’s ESG commitment is simple:

to help councils manage their estates responsibly, sustainably and transparently - while improving outcomes for residents and communities.

We support local government not only through immediate challenges such as LGR, financial pressures and housing need, but also in building an estate that is fit for the future.
